20/02/2009 Team Konica Minolta ready themselves for the Giro del Capo
With less than two weeks remaining before the much loved Giro del Capo returns to
the streets of the Western Cape. The Konica Minolta team has announced their roster
for South Africa's only registered UCI Tour. Although the team is seen as somewhat
of a dark horse, the Konica Minolta Team have the enviable reputation of being the
only South African team to have beaten Team Barloworld in the races illustrious
history. In 2006 Peter Velits from Konica Minolta snatched overall victory from
the big race favorites including the powerful Barloworld team.
In the past weeks, the Konica Minolta Cycling Team has maintained a consistent presence
in some of South Africa's one day Classics. With their focus purely on building
the foundations for what is believed will be a successful Giro. "We are a small
team with a number of young riders, thus we have to be specific about what we want
to achieve each season, and the Giro del Capo is always an important objective of
mine" said team manager Robertson.
Spearheading the Konica Minolta Team will be the two climbers Dennis Van Niekerk
together with Kosie Loubser. Also in the team are Shaun Ward, Tiaan Swart, Pieter
Seyffert and the Australian, Casey Munro.
This has been an exciting week for Konica Minolta with the team's new website being
launched. Team fans and supporters will once again be able to follow the teams every
move through the website. The designers of the website also came up with the interested

It seems as if the Konica Minolta Boys are on the right track; not only for the
Giro Del Capo but also for the season ahead.
