25/05/2009 Yolandi du Toit back in Mountain Biking form
Konica Minolta's Yolandi Du Toit secured herself a comfortable victory at Sunday's
Vi-T-Go mountain bike race held in the North of Pretoria.
The event forms part of a series and was Yolandi's first mountain bike outing in
the colours of Konica Minolta. "I got into a nice steady tempo from the start and
managed to pace myself until the finish" said a smiling Yolandi "It was my second
time doing this event and I think the race is good for developing and practicing
bike handling skills with the loose sand, tricky corners, rocky climbs and descents."
Yolandi will be riding a Focus First Pro dual-suspension in all the mountain bike
events in which she participates. "After Sunday I'm a dual suspension convert" said
Yolandi "Although the bike is slightly heavier than a hard tail I had far greater
control on the technical and downhill sections".
Yolandi is gaining her confidence and a renewed enthusiasm for cycling after having
rejoined the Konica Minolta team at the beginning of May.
With a race program that includes many of the country's top road races and selected
mountain biking events she still has a busy schedule ahead of her for the remainder
of the year.
